The Department of Microsystems Engineering at the University of Freiburg (IMTEK) consists of more than 20 highly dynamic professors and is one of the largest and most research intensive academic departments in microsystems engineering worldwide. The research activities span from application oriented basic sciences towards direct industry collaboration. IMTEK focuses on smart sensors and actuators, system integration, Lab on Chip, medical microsystems, optical systems, as well as the development of smart materials, surfaces and processes.
